Stumbling Upon a Helpful Writing Habit

I accidentally stumbled upon a way to speed up my writing in some respects. I decided to read some paperwork in between doing rewrite notes for the latest We Will Hold On Forever chapter and I found that I was able to focus better with fewer distractions by doing this. Only having to text corrections for the paperwork to someone involved in it distracted me yesterday. I've been reading a book a bit lately in brief breaks from writing but now I'm going to expand that. From now on, I’ll read a page of nonfiction book after writing and reviewing every 2 paragraphs or 4 lines or a page of my stories. It doesn’t have to relate to my story but it helps motivate me. I don’t know if I’ll be less distracted from now on but it’s an encouraging development.
Decided to watch the Netflix film Klaus. Yes, it’s been over a month since Christmas but whims don’t tend to be sensible. I heard this film being praised and liked. I found it alright. The animation style’s very pretty, like if classic 2d took a few steps into 3d but I read that’s apparently not the case. The story about the initially selfish lead becoming selfless seeing the impact of his actions is tried but nice in execution. The balance of humor and drama didn’t always appeal to me. But there are good themes about kindness begetting kindness, initially out of self-interest but then with genuine sincerity.
I do like the depictions of how the community changes from mutual hostility to becoming warmer and interconnected. I did find romance a bit weak but it was probably a secondary concern to the film’s focus to Jesper and Klaus. The ending with Klaus disappearing to go with his dead wife was moving, as was him seeming to reappear on every Christmas. This film had a brief fat joke, a man voicing a big woman as a joke, and I don’t know if the depiction and treatment of the Saami was respectful. With all that in mind, if this film sounds of interest to you, feel free to watch it.
That’s all for now. Free Palestine. Until next month, see you.
