Nearing a Fic's End...

Had to deal with my father’s car breaking down again on the way back home from am orthodontist appointment. It was tough waiting, so I eventually put on a news program I watch every weekday. Fortunately, the tow truck appeared within 33 minutes of me starting the program but we didn’t know if or when it was coming, since notifications weren’t working. I hope Dad can find the source of the issue.
I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once. I kept hearing this film be hyped up and it ended up being available on Netflix, so I decided to watch it. I did like a lot about this film and I can see why it caused buzz. The opening with Evelyn Wang having to deal with so many people and concerns was well done in conveying how overwhelmed she was. The later sequences where Evelyn and Jobu Tupaki flash through the multiverse was also good at conveying how many universes there were and how overloading and crushing that could be.
There’re some comedic deaths which I’m not a fan of but I surmise they’re another way to show how much Jobu Tupaki feels nothing matters. I did like the message that if nothing matters, then everything matters and that makes being good even more important. I also like that all the universes were shown to matter, even the silly ones. Waymond’s also a kind husband that Evelyn learns to appreciate and I can see why this role restarted his actor’s career. There are a ton of content warnings from racism (including Deidre’s actor who did some racist acts) to lesbophobia to fat shaming and a probable anti-semitic jot about a Jewish character’s nose? There’s also parental abuse, on-screen puking, blood, and suicidal ideation. There’re others who have better insight in the film but if this one sounds interesting to you, go watch it.
Ceasefire for Gaza. Free the hostages. Prosecute Israel and Hamas for genocide and war crimes. See you at the end of March.
