Anyway, the Appmon Kindergarten, the closest to a Primary Village for this series, is interesting with the mention of how Apps evolve into Appmon. Maybe it was addressed in a previous episode but do all Apps change into Appmon and what is that process like? With the kindergarten, I wonder if the younglings were just babier versions of current Appmon or there various shapes and colored Apps playing with toys until they became Appmon.
Whatever the case, Bootmon has been apparently hiding out in there as soon as he escaped. Poor boy must have been so cooped up and lonely. No wonder he really wants to socialize outside again. Hajime’s voice coming in to tell him he’s free must have been a heavenly light for him. Though Hajime should have pointed out the Appli Drivers and Buddy Appmon were there to pick him up, so he wouldn’t have been scared off like that. And it’s understandable the Buddy Appmon were eager to retrieve Bootmon before something happened but running toward him in glowing-eyed desperation didn’t help matters.
And Hajime’s Appmon creation managed to cause worldwide chaos of many sorts. Whoops! Since this is a kids’ show, I’m sure no one got seriously hurt from this ruckus, though in real life it might lead to some injuries, firings, and economies going up and down. Hajime would probably feel all sorts of guilt for that. In the meantime, we get back to Ai and Watson, the latter of whom hasn’t been seen in awhile. Ai nearly lets slip about what Haru and Yuujin are doing but appeases to Watson’s know-how by asking about the summer festival’s origin, which is about appeasing the spirits of electronic devices? Technology really has advanced into the lives of the culture of Earth in general in this time period, whenever it is. It feels like a bit ahead of modern times but with robots and other things but still feels pretty present day too. Is the 2045 date given at the beginning a indication of the actual time or something else.
The Damedamon’s function seems to be to make electronic functions inoperable. Contrary to the “useless” phrase he uses, he does have a useful skill for combat situations. Him making the small summer festival inoperable takes the Appli Drivers away from the Bootmon search. Haru and Yuujin do make the good point that the happiness of people at this small festival is important and what they’re fighting for in defeating Leviathan. Damedamon making most of the Ultimate Grade Appmon into sulky drawings was amusing, with Oujamon as a literal scaredy-cat, Globemon as a delinquent, and Shutmon back to his shyer Shutmon self complete with kneading energy balls. It did make sense that Entermon, with his hip positiveness, would have the ease of mind not to be effected even after absorbing Damedamon’s breath a second time. Damedamon gets purified into having self-worth as a Appmon, which makes me muse if he hadn’t been corrupted by Leviathan but by other matters and if there are other Appmon like him.
Then the Appli Drivers appreciate the small happiness of the festival and the fireworks, with Haru wishing they could attend the event together for as long as they would live. That is sweet but that pronouncement can be foreboding in stories, especially here with Yuujin’s mind control eyes and if the Appmon would be able to stick around. Hopefully the ending of this series would be good and hopeful.
Appliyama being suspended indefinitely seems like retaliation to Eri for her actions. She has voiced her intention to resign two episodes back but she didn’t seem to get around to it. I liked Astra’s concern and her response being to declare wresting the group from Leviathan and reviving it. I also liked Rei not wanting anyone else to go through what he went through with Leviathan’s plot to turn all humans into controllable Apps. Bootmon reuniting with Hajime, who encourages him to join the Leviathan fight is also sweet. Though Bootmon then gets scared off by fireworks. I could see this meaning they have to find him all over again but it could also be a comedic moment and Bootmon would be back with them by next episode, since he now knows Hajime and the Appli Drivers seek and welcome him. Him accidentally activating electronics might be a problem, likely to lead to antics but also to some problems if they’re trying to keep from getting Leviathan’s attention. He might have to learn how to control his powers, and that might lead to some interesting character and plot stuff, especially if and when they go up against Leviathan.
Next time, Agumon shows up, and no one in Appmon world knows and can identify who he is. Multiverse shenanigans? I don’t know if this is Adventure Agumon, one of the manga or video game ones, or just a generic one. I wonder why he would fight with Gatchmon, since they are both heroes. Misunderstanding? Brainwashing? Whatever causes the conflict, it’ll be interesting to see how Appmon sends up the most prominent of Digimon and star of the first anime series.
