Appmon 50 reaction

Seeing a mother and child get absorbed, one of many people she wants to make happy as an Idol, horrifies Eri and the other Appli Drivers to such an extent they ask their God Grade Appmon to fight Leviathan and rescue them. Duesmon intercepts and, like any villain, takes advantage of their hesitation to fight in a human area by firing upon the civilians. This isn’t surprising but it leads to some fun reactions from the humans. Poseidemon shields some humans and directly addresses them, and the Uranusmon and Hadesmon join in. The humans cotton on these three alien beings are on their side and start cheering them on. Poseidemon saying their cheering gives him strength and Hadesmon saying he’d do it regardless is sweet. How they outsmart Duesmon with Rei’s advice is pretty great, even if they use stock animation for the attacks. At least it’s pretty stock animation.
Meanwhile, Haru has got caught up on what’s happening in the Real World. He makes a great speech about not knowing if his goal to fight Leviathan and free Yuujin would succeed but he’d do it because he promised Gatchmon and the best friend he loves, Yuujin. He summons Gaiamon, a beautiful white and silver God Grade. Yuujin-bot wants Rebootmon to attack Haru and awaken hidden powers(?) through fear and hatred, but not only does Haru’s mission make him as calm as a glowing cucumber, Gaiamon intercepts the attack and punches Rebootmon through multiple buildings, which is cool.
It does send Kowloon citizens flying and that mightn’t have been Gaiamons intention if he notices, it doesn’t seem to bother him either. I guess since they mostly aligned with Leviathan, we shouldn’t care as much about them, but that gives me pause, since they appear to be mostly mistreated civilians searching for an alternative. That might go unexplored, which might be the few disappointment about Appmon. Oh well, there’s always fanfic. Still, at least the scene of Rebootmon getting pummeled is pretty excellent.
When a more macro Leviathan comes around, poor Duesmon thinks that he’s being rescued from the corner the God Grade Appmon put him in. Instead, vore is the order of the day, vore all part of Leviathan’s plan. The God Grade Appmon try their best but they all end up with the same fate to evolve Leviathan. Astra is disbelieving, Rei is shocked, Eri is horrified. It’s a compliment to how mature Hajime is that he’s disturbed but composed as he speculates to the reason for why Leviathan vored the God Grades. The moment where the signal disconnects shows pretty well how dependent the government and military are on technology and how they are helpless when it gets shut off. Though I’d think they would consider such an eventually and make countermeasures to it? Poor Eri is desperate to save their partners, but Astra doesn’t know how and Rei considers the possibility they mightn’t be able to do anything.
That is when Gaiamon punches in and Haru comes in glowing to offer hope. With them, surely things will turn around, right? It’s more complicated. Haru’s concerned when Rebootmon holds Gaiamon in place to be vored but he and Gaiamon seem to have a psychic conversation that fills him with confidence. While the others despair as Leviathan starts glowing red in places, Haru expresses confidence things would be alright. He has faith in his partner and best friend. This seems to indicate that Gaiamon and Yuujin are about to instigate subterfuge or rebel against Leviathan’s plans, which apparently have an overlooked flaw. Whatever shall happen, I look forward to it.
After Eri and Astra amusingly catchphrases in Appmon Data Lab, the next time shows us some familiar faces as the Human Application Project is activated, indicating we’ll see plenty of one-shot or recurring characters get digitized. We glimpse the Buddy Appmon together, with Offmon teary, which means we might get an explanation of how long he knew Yuujin was a robot. That Kowloon cephalopod comes back either in Leviathan or in the Real World to cause havoc or be Leviathan’s immune system. And Haru answers a phone, which is either Denemon or the Appmon. Hopefully, he might have explained his plan by then. Also, there are digital eyestalks that blink on a 2d screen? I don’t know what that means, but I look forward to the answers when the episode airs.
