Went to another job interview. Like before, I missed the initial call by a day but they left a message and we were able to arrange a meeting. It was hard to track down the office but when I got to the interview, I slowly realized something was off. The interview was about finance and investing when the one I applied for online was about another topic. With my very limited finance knowledge, I did fear if this was a pyramid scheme. We left and in retrospect I realized though I applied online for one company, another saw my credentials on the job searching website and called me. Researching that company, I don’t think it’s a pyramid scheme but I’m not going to accept the job. Doing sales or anything like that doesn’t interest me. Ah well, back to job searching. If and when I do find a job, even as a part-timer, I’ll probably have to rearrange my writing and watching schedule.

I already got a taste of that when I went back to writing two hours a day. After finishing catching up on missed writing days using a one hour a day schedule, I decided to move back up to two hours a day the following week because I feared I’d find it more challenging if I waited too long. So far, I’ve been able to write or edit four pages a day like I used to and use a strange, so it has been going well. I’m also doing a helpful but odd practice to pace myself and not get distracted. Maybe I’ll finish We Will Hold On Forever in the next couple years. I’m also rereading the old chapters to remind myself where I came from and where I’m going. I’ve had to cut down or remove some activities so my day doesn’t become too busy.

I might skip watching Digimon Ghost Game for a while. The staff did say the episodes would be episodic but any character or relationship development is so subtle or spaced out, I’m not getting much joy out of it. If and when the show finishes, I might marathon it. I’ll be trying to make some bits of room to watch other anime, revisiting old childhood favorites or trying new shows. I’m nearing the end of Samurai Troopers aka Ronin Warriors and character focus didn’t appear to be much of a priority back then (though there are elements in episodes and scenes). We rarely learn anything about the Troopers’ lives prior to the series (Apparently some of that’s in the drama cds?) and there are some inconsistencies like Jun’s parents being back after they’re taken but we barely hear from them again and Jun seems to just move in with the heroes. I might watch Dragon Quest Adventures of Dai next, since what little I’ve seen or heard about it intrigues me.

I think I might keep movie reviews brief going forward. They take so much time to make and they often just feel like a recap of the plot, so I’ll just write a single short paragraph of scattered thoughts. Also this month Wendell & Wild, the movie I saw, didn’t come out until the 28th, so not much time to write a lengthy review. Speaking of, I enjoyed Wendell & Wild. I can see why some think the stop-motion film feels overstuffed but for me, it made the characters and the world feel more fleshed out. It deals with grief, loss, the prison industrial complex and maybe other themes I probably didn’t pick up on. It’s understandable that Kat with her losses puts on a tough exterior to protect herself and doesn’t want to hurt others but I’m glad she finds connection and help as the film goes on. The caveats are that a trans character gets accidentally dead-named by a former friend who apologizes, a few comments about weight (and questionable depictions too? I don’t know enough to be sure), and a few parental figures mistreating their children, one extreme example realizing the error of their ways. Still, I like the film and recommend to all parties interested.

That’s all for now. Happy Halloween Eve. I’ll be vacuuming soon. I’ll use the spooky holiday to relax. Until the end of November, see you!
